Remo Stars have progressed into the final round of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League (CCL) qualifiers.

The team defeated Comoros’ US Zilimadjou 5-0 on aggregate to move a step closer to the group stages of the CCL.

Remo had thrashed their opponents 4-0 in the first leg at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta last weekend.

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions completed the triumph with a 1-0 finish away at the Stade de Moroni in Comoros on Friday.

Alex Oyowah’s 75th minute penalty was the sole difference for Remo who dispatched their duty excellently.

An Ibrahim Abubakar’s cross was handled inside the US Zilimadjou’s box by a defender and Oyowah made no mistake from the spot.

Remo Stars advance to the final round of the qualifier and will take on Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in October.

Remo will be playing the second round of CCL qualifiers for the first time in the club’s history, after exiting the competition numerously in the first round of qualification.

Kwara United and Abia Warriors however had contrasting fortunes in the CAF Confederations Cup, where the former lost a seven-goal thriller in Ghana, falling 4-3 to Asante Kotoko in the first leg of their first-round tie.

Rivers United, Nigeria’s other representative in the competition, will host Aigles du Congo of the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Godswill Akpabio stadium on Sunday. The first leg of the encounter ended goalless.
