Former Italy captain, Fabio Cannavaro, has been handed 10-month jail sentence for breaching orders to keep out of his property after it was seized by authorities.

The 2006 World Cup winner’s property had been seized by Italian police as part of a planning abuse investigation in 2014, but the 2006 Ballon d’Or winner breached orders to not enter the villa.

Cannavaro was slapped with a 10-month jail term, while his brother Paolo, who plays for Serie A side Sassuolo, and his wife Daniela Arenoso were also hit with custodial sentences.

However, the trio has appealed, which means sentences are suspended until the court has re-visited the case.

Cannavaro is currently under investigation for tax evasion, and last October police seized one million euros (£787,796) worth of goods from the former Juventus and Real Madrid defender.

The 41-year-old has just started his managerial career leading Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande into the Asian Champions League this week.
