Manchester United, holders of the Carabao Cup, will host Crystal Palace in the third round of this season’s competition.
The Red Devils, who won the title to end a seven-year trophy drought, were drawn to face Roy Hodgson’s men in the draws that took place Wednesday night.
Newcastle United, beaten finalists last season, have, however, been handed a tough draw to face Manchester City, English Premier League (EPL) champions.
The Cityzens have already bested Eddie Howe’s side this season in a 1-0 win.
Chelsea and Arsenal were also handed EPL opponents, with the Gunners visiting Brentford while mega-spending Chelsea will host Brighton in a possible Moises Caicedo reunion.
Liverpool will entertain Kelechi Iheanacho’s relegated Leicester City.
The Carabao Cup third-round ties will take place in the week commencing September 25.
