Olayemi Cardoso, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), will deliver the maiden edition of the CBN Governor’s Lecture Series at Lagos Business School (LBS) on Friday.
The lecture, titled ‘Next Generation Leadership in Monetary Policy & Nation Building,’ is part of a new thought-leadership platform launched by the apex bank in collaboration with leading tertiary institutions.
According to a statement on Tuesday, the series is scheduled to run over the next three years and will feature engagements designed to deepen public understanding of monetary policy and its role in national development.
The apex bank said the inaugural edition also coincides with the second anniversary of Cardoso’s leadership at the CBN, a period the bank said has been “defined by a renewed focus on price stability, institutional transparency, and aligning monetary policy with the daily realities of Nigerians”.

According to the CBN, the lecture series forms a central plank of its ‘Knowledge Acceleration and Thought Leadership Initiative,’ aimed at fostering dialogue, promoting innovation, and advancing an inclusive financial system.
Cardoso has repeatedly stressed that price stability remains the bank’s core mandate, describing it as essential for sustainable growth and livelihood protection.
During an earlier engagement, Cardoso said Nigeria is at a pivotal moment, where technology, global financial realignments, and the energy of its youthful population are reshaping its economic future.

“Innovation must be harnessed intentionally and confidently, particularly by institutions like the CBN,” he said.
The CBN lecture is expected to draw senior policymakers, industry leaders, academics, and students.
