Suspected cattle rustlers have killed two policemen and a civilian in Kaduna state.

The incident was said to have occurred in Maigana district of soba local government area of the state.

Agyole Abeh, Kaduna state commissioner of police, told Channels TV that the deceased officers were killed during a gun battle.

He explained that policemen who were on a routine patrol in the area were ambushed.

Abeh said they died before they could be rushed to a hospital, adding that their attackers escaped with bullets wounds.

The police commissioner said no amount of attacks against his officers would deter them from dislodging the criminals from their hideouts.

He vowed to bring the gunmen behind the attack to book.
