A JAMB CBT centre in Lagos
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has asked all computer-based test (CBT) centres to use only Microsoft Camera during candidate registration for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
JAMB Bulletin reports that Johnson Adebiyi, the board’s Gombe coordinator, spoke during his work visit to the El-Lawanti ICT Centre.
The coordinator stated that his visit aims to evaluate the level of compliance of accredited centres with JAMB policies.
He also assessed the use of Microsoft cameras in UTME registration, stating that the deadline for adoption was October 1, 2025.
Adebiyi further explained that the decision was influenced by the actions of CBT centres that reportedly engaged in image blending of candidates to commit impersonation and other examination malpractices in the 2025 UTME.

He urged CBT centres to utilise the opportunities offered by the board’s expanded services that were once limited to JAMB’s professional registration and testing centres.
The coordinator also stated that the accredited centres can also benefit from other agencies, such as the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO), which have also adopted the CBT mode of examination.
He stated that the board’s deadline is “non-negotiable” and that other types of cameras will not be allowed in the system.

In June, Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB’s registrar, called for a stronger approach to address digital examination malpractice in the country after over 3000 students were discovered to be involved in the misconduct.
