Rising star Alex Iwobi played no part as Arsenal was blown away 5-1 by Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium in the Champions League on Tuesday.

After losing the first leg by the same margin, Arsenal exited the competition on a 2-10 aggregate scoreline.

Theo Walcott smashed a shot past Manuel Neuer to get Arsenal ahead in the 20th minute.

Robert Lewandowski earned a penalty kick – and scored – to equalise for Bayern in the 56th minute.

In the 68th minute, Arjen Robben extended the Bavarians lead.

Douglas Costa made it 1-3 in the 78th minute while Arturo Vidal scored Bayern’s fourth and fifth goals.

The defeat was Arsenal’s biggest loss at the Emirates to date.

It is also the heaviest aggregate defeat inflicted upon an English team in Champions League history.

The win is Bayern’s third 5-1 victory over Arsenal in a row.

Bayern has now won seven out of the 12 games played against Arsenal.
