Chelsea players celebrate after winning World Club Cup
Chelsea won the Club World Cup following a surprise 3-0 demolition of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) at the MetLife stadium in New Jersey on Sunday.
Cole Palmer scored twice and assisted another as the Blues, Conference League winners, delivered a clinical first half performance to silence the attacking juggernauts of PSG, UEFA Champions League holders, who finished the entertaining encounter with ten men.
It is a second trophy for Chelsea to cap a successful season, adding to the third-tier European trophy won in May.
Donald Trump, president of the United States of America, was in attendance as sides paraded their best stars, with Ousmane Dembele leading PSG’s charge, while Palmer and Joao Pedro spearheaded Chelsea’s attack.

Palmer scored two identical goals in eight minutes to put Chelsea 2-0 up, slotting into the corner in the 22nd and 30th minutes, before sending Pedro on his way to a dinked finish beyond Gianluigi Donnarumma for 3-0 on 43 minutes as Enzo Maresca’s side stunned the packed stadium.
Both sides traded chances in the second half but PSG were unable to mount a comeback, and a red card to Joao Neves for pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair summed up a bad night for Le Parisiens.
The defeat ends Luis Enrique’s record of winning every final he has contested, suffering a first defeat in the 12th attempt.
