Li Keqiang, the premier of China who is currently on a trip to Africa, has revealed his country’s plan to link capital of all African countries by high-speed rail, in order to boost pan-African communication and development.

Kegiang made the disclosure at the African Union headquarters in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, on Monday May 5, 2014, while unveiling extra aid package of about $12bn for Africa. He also offered to share advance technology with the continent.

“China will increase credit lines to Africa by $10 billion  and will boost the China-Africa Development Fund by $2 billion,” Reuters quoted the premier.

“Such additions will bring the total aid amount to a total of $5 billion.”

The Chinese leader also added that his country will offer $100 million to aid wildlife protection.

It is Li’s first visit to Africa since he became premier in 2013. His visit followed the visit of president of the country, Xi Jinping in March 2013, when he renewed an offer of $20 billion in loans to Africa between 2013 and 2015.
