Civic Hive appoints inaugural advisory board members

Civic Hive, a civic tech organisation, has appointed members of its inaugural advisory board to provide strategic guidance for the organisation.

The appointment of the advisory board members was announced in a statement released by Zahara Salawu, Civic Hive’s communication officer.

The advisory board will be chaired by Oluwaseun Muraina, lecturer and researcher.

Other members are Stephen Duncombe, a professor; Michaela Koke, senior manager (award selection) at Climate Breakthrough; Austin Ifedirah, co-founder and managing partner of Bandika loT; and Shukurat Amosa, founder of Dintangible Nugget Intellectual Property Academy (DINIPA).

According to Salawu, the expertise of the board members will help refine the organisation’s approach, and strengthen the research and sustainability models.

Observing members of the board from Civic Hive’s leadership include Joseph Armenaghawon, Oluseun Onigbinde, and Joseph Agunbiade.

OLUWASEUN MURAINA

Oluwaseun Muraina is a real estate surveyor, researcher, and lecturer with over a decade of multidisciplinary experience spanning academia, industry, and development practice. She holds advanced degrees in estate management and real estate finance from the University of Lagos and Henley Business School, University of Reading, UK. She is currently completing her PhD in sustainable urbanisation as a DAAD scholar.

MICHAELA KOKE

Michaela Koke is the senior manager of award selection with Climate Breakthrough, a global philanthropy that provides the largest climate action grant for individuals through the Climate Breakthrough Award. In this role, she leads awardee selection, selection strategy, and candidate sourcing, including managing a network of scouts and strategic partners.

STEPHEN DUNCOMBE

Stephen Duncombe is a professor of media and culture at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study and the Department of Media, Culture and Communications at the Steinhardt School of New York University. He is the author, co-author, editor, and co-editor of ten books, including Effect: The Affect and Effect of Artistic Activism; The Art of Activism; The Activism of Art; Dream: Re-Imagining Progressive Politics in an Age of Fantasy; Notes From Underground: Zines and the Politics of Underground Culture; The Activist Angler, The Bobbed Haired Bandit: Crime and Celebrity in 1920s New York; the Cultural Resistance Reader; White Riot: Punk Rock and the Politics of Race; and (Open) Utopia.

AUSTIN IFEDIRAH

Austin Ifedirah is co-founder and managing partner at Bandika loT, where he leads the day-to-day management, development and deployment of the company’s capabilities and platform. Prior to founding Bandika Telematics, Ifedirah has held several founder and executive positions in the United States.

SHUKURAT AMOSA

Shukurat Amosa is a seasoned intellectual property consultant with a master’s degree in intellectual property from the prestigious African University Zimbabwe, a programme collaboratively established with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Government of Japan. She possesses extensive training and certifications in various aspects of intellectual property from renowned Institutions such as WIPO and Harvard Law School.
