Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters have ambushed a convoy of soldiers and operatives of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
The incident happened on Friday at Damboa road along Wajiroko in Borno state.
TheCable understands that the ISWAP fighters ambushed troops and CJTF operatives who were transporting some military equipment.
The ISWAP fighters were said to have opened fire on the military convoy along the road — an incident that led to a gun duel between the troops and the insurgents.

During the gun duel, two CJTF operatives and two soldiers were killed.
At least 17 military motorcycles were seized by the ISWAP fighters.
TheCable understands Brigadier General M. Uba, a brigade commander, who was initially feared missing, was said to have returned to the military base

However, some military personnel are reported missing after the attack.
Onyechi Anele, army spokesperson, has not responded to an enquiry about the incident.
