The organisation added that global food loss and waste generate about eight percent of humankind’s annual greenhouse gas emissions.
In a single square mile, mangroves hold as much carbon as the annual emissions of 90,000 cars, Conservation International said.
The Conservation International said if the mangroves are destroyed and all that carbon is released into the atmosphere, it will contribute to climate change.
In 2020, more than 830 cities in 72 countries had adopted renewable energy targets, according to the United Nations.
