Coco Gauff is the first American woman to win the French Open since Serena Williams in 2015
Coco Gauff has won her first-ever French Open women’s singles title.
The 21-year-old came back from a set down to defeat Aryna Sabalenka, her Belarusian opponent, in the final on Saturday.

In a battle between the best defence and the best attack in the sport and a repeat of the 2023 US Open final.
Gauff staved off Sabalenka in a three sets showdown to the trophy at the Philippe Chartrier court.

In an intriguing and gritty encounter, the world number 1 fought tooth and nail to claim the first set 7-6.
Sabalenka, however, lost the second set 6-2 to Gauff, who forced the match into the third set.
Gauff sealed her title with a 6-4 triumph in the decider.
The victory was the American’s second Grand Slam title.

She won the US Open ladies’ singles title in 2023.
She became the first American since Serena Williams in 2015 to lift the Suzanne-Lenglen Cup.
Gauff has now edged the Belarusian 6-5 in their career meetings so far.
She also took home £2,166,912 as the winner.
