Mohammed Abubakar, governor of Jigawa state and chairman of the election committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary in Ondo, says the process of results collation might last eight hours.

In an interview with TVC at The Dome, venue of the primary in Akure, Abubakar said the election was organised in a transparent manner.

He also said attempts were being made to create two teams for collation in order to make the process faster.

“We want this exercise to be rancour-free, that’s why we organised it in such a way that people who do not have business in this election are not here, even the delegates, after voting they go back home, and we have only  representatives of the aspirants, and some of the aspirants,” he said.

“We allowed just two agents at the polling units, so that one can take over when the other is tired, and for the aspirants to know that their interest is protected.

“With the figures we have, it will take close to eight hours to sort the results. There are about 3,000 ballot papers, if 10 seconds is spent on one ballot paper, it would take like eight hours to finish, but we are discussing with the aspirants, if can have two collating teams, so that we can round-off in four hours.”

There are 24 aspirants in the election.
