Seun Fakuade, the commissioner for innovation, science and digital economy, says the state government aimed to transform Ekiti into a formidable creative-technology hub in the next three years.

The commissioner spoke on Thursday at a two-day innovation summit tagged “Kick-starting Ekiti state’s partway to prosperity” in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

He said the goal would be achieved through innovation spaces and programmes that would lead the state into prosperity.

Fakuade added that the new initiative would support the youth of the state and help them bring their dreams to fruition.

On his part, Biodun Oyebanji, governor of Ekiti, urged the youth of the state to acquire 21st-century skills which would help them to contribute more to the development of the country.

Oyebanji was represented at the event by Abibat Adubiaro, the secretary to the state government (SSG).

He pledged to lead the state into a tech-driven future.

The governor presented plans for a digital transformation of the state public service and electronic governance (e-governance) to reduce bureaucracy and improve efficiency.

He also unveiled a blueprint to guide the state’s journey towards becoming a secondary innovation society.

The governor said the blueprint would complement Ekiti’s cultural strength with a robust knowledge-based economy, encourage the adoption of technological advancements and foster creativity.

Oyebanji added that the laid down strategies could only be achieved through collective commitment, including the involvement of every citizen, businesses and policymakers.
