NGO says N160m raised to support special needs children, orphanages

Concert for Change, a non-profit initiative, says it has disbursed N160 million to support children with special needs and charity organisations across Nigeria.

The group, known for organising the annual Green Worship concert, said it plans to raise N100 million annually and expand its support network from four to ten beneficiary organisations.

The initiative, according to the organisers, is aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable children and strengthening charities that work with orphans and persons with disabilities.

The upcoming Green Worship 8.0 event, scheduled to hold next week at the MUSON Centre in Onikan, Lagos, will serve as the next fundraising platform to sustain the effort.

The concert will feature a line-up of leading gospel artistes including Nathaniel Bassey, Dunsin Oyekan, Gaise Baba, Anendlessocean, Preye Odede, Rotimi Keys, Kent Egunjobi, Moyosola Olowokure, Gospel Force, Ellie Scotte, Outgun Onkar, and Wale Adenuga.

Wale Adenuga, convener of Green Worship, said the donation and the annual concert reflect the group’s belief in the power of collective goodwill and the enduring impact of faith-driven giving.

“The miracle of the five loaves and two fish is still alive today. We know the times are challenging and needs around us are growing,” he said.

“Yet in the midst of these challenges, there are charities doing incredible work, often unseen, feeding, teaching, and caring for orphans and children with special needs. The least we can do is to lighten that burden.”

Adenuga said that the proceeds will be shared among five organisations, namely: Comrade David Ofoeyeno School for Special Children (Warri), Marvelous Foundation Orphans Care Centre (Minna), Super Parents Foundation (Lagos), Hope Orphanage (Akure), and Learning Disabilities Society of Nigeria (Uyo).

He noted that Green Worship was about creating a space where worship becomes a response to human need and where songs translate into acts of support and kindness.

According to him, the Concert for Change serves as a reminder that compassion holds power, generosity transforms lives, and collective effort can bring hope to others.
