Rivers United were defeated 2-0 by Tunisian club side, Club Africain, at the Yakubu Gowon stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

It was another group game loss for Rivers in the CAF Confederations Cup.

At the end of the first forty five minutes – which was dominated by the visitors – the match was goalless.

The second half saw Club Africain continue their dominance until it yielded the desired result in the 63rd minute.

Anoubi Hadded scored from a superb free kick to give the visitors’ the maximum three points.

Bolaji Sakin, Bernard Ovoke, Ayobami Asekunowo all missed goalscoring chances for Rivers.

Festus Austine scored an own goal for Club Africain when he deflected Bilel Ifa’s cross into the net in the 89th minute.

Rivers United will face FUS Rabat on July 8 in Morocco.
