The Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria (CSSLN) is seeking the support of the Chinese government to digitise legislative processes across state assemblies in the country.
Adebo Ogundoyin, chairman of the conference and speaker of the Oyo house of assembly, visited Yu Dunhai, Chinese ambassador to Nigeria, at the Chinese embassy in Abuja on Friday.
Ogundoyin said the conference is working to modernise legislative processes at the state level by adopting digital tools that promote transparency, citizen engagement and institutional efficiency.
“In line with global best practices, we are keen on fully digitizing legislative processes at the sub-national level in Nigeria to enhance transparency, citizen participation, and institutional efficiency,” he said.

Ogundoyin also called for scholarships, educational exchange programmes and technology transfer opportunities for young Nigerians.
He said the conference is looking to learn from China’s approach to legislative drafting, committee systems and policy development.
