A group of contractors known as Concerned Contractors of Abuja has called on the federal government to settle outstanding payments for projects they executed over the past two years.
The contractors, who staged a peaceful protest at the headquarters of the federal ministry of finance in Abuja on Monday, expressed frustration over the government’s prolonged indebtedness, which they said is inflicting severe economic hardship on them and their families.
Kabir Tijani, the spokesperson of the group, appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene and ensure that the contractors are paid without further delay.
“We’re calling on Mr President to please help us talk to these people to pay us our money,” Tijani said.

“It has been too long, for about two years now, and we have been expecting payments.”
He warned that continued delays could force contractors into desperation, given the country’s current security and economic challenges.
“But we don’t want to get pushed to the wall because we already know the tension in this country, the insecurity in this country. We don’t want to add more to Mr. President.” he said.
