Court judgments were written in the villa under PDP, says senate leader

Ahmed Lawan, senate majority leader, says most court judgments were far from fair when the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) controlled the federal government.

He said this on the floor of the senate on Wednesday while reacting to the supreme court judgement which affirmed Ahmed Makarfi as the authentic chairman of the PDP.

Lawan, who is of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said the judgement goes to show that the Muhammadu Buhari administration believes in the separation of powers.

He said in spite of the ruling, the PDP will continue to remain in “diaspora”.

“Nigerians overwhelmingly and massively took out PDP from the running of this country and PDP will remain in diaspora. All the same, we want to congratulate Nigerians for the kind of judgement that the supreme court gave under this administration,” the senate leader said.

“During PDP administration, most of the court judgments were written in the villa. This goes to show that this administration believes in separation of powers and believes that our judiciary should remain and continue to be free in what they do.”

On his part, Emmanuel Bwacha, senator representing Taraba south, said the court’s judgement on the power tussle in the PDP is an indication that the country “is going to move forward”.

“I congratulate all Nigerians and the senate president too. For those of us who witnessed the swearing in this morning, I want to congratulate the new senator. Secondly, to tell Nigerians that God loves Nigeria. I want to say that the giant is awake,” Bwacha said.

“The development today is an indication that Nigeria is going to move forward. On behalf of the giant of Africa, PDP, I want to use this opportunity to announce on behalf of PDP, that there is no winner, no vanquish.

“All our sons who are in diaspora to come back home. So that we can position this party for a better Nigeria tomorrow. This can only be possible if we are serious to change the change.”
