Court remands man for ‘abducting, defiling 13-year-old girl’ in Lagos

An Ikeja magistrate court has remanded one Reuben Temitope for allegedly abducting and defiling a 13-year-old girl in Lagos.

The 30-year-old suspect reportedly committed the offence on November 20, at his residence in Meiran Road, Alagbado area of Lagos.

E. Kubeinje, the magistrate in charge of the case, declined the plea of the defendant and directed that he should be remanded at the Kirikiri correctional centre.

Kubeinje asked the police to forward the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice and adjourned the trial till January 16.

The suspect was arraigned on a five-count charge bordering on abduction, unlawful sexual intercourse, and possession of criminal charm.

Speaking during the trial, Kehinde Ajayi, the prosecution counsel, said the suspect abducted the girl and took her to his residence where he defiled her.

“The defendant abducted the minor from Bankole Olanrewaju Street, Off Agas Dalemo at Alakuko area, and took her to his house,” NAN quoted Ajayi as saying.

“He had in his possession a criminal charm which he used to attack the girl.

“He took her to his house and had unlawful sexual intercourse with her.

“He also threatened and pointed a gun at her in order to forcefully have sexual intercourse with her against her will.

“The case was reported at the police station and he was arrested.”

The prosecution counsel added that the offence contravenes sections 133 (b), 232, 260, 277 (1a/b) and 411 of the criminal law of Lagos state, 2015.
