Theophilus Danjuma, chairman of the Victims Support Fund, has inaugurated a taskforce on COVID-19.

Toyosi-Akerele Ogunsuji is chairperson of the taskforce while Mali Gubio, John Gana, Sunday Oibe, Alkasim Abdulkadir and Sunday Ochoche are members.

The taskforce is to raise N1 billion worth of food, medicine and other essentials for internally displaced persons (IDP) and other vulnerable people in the country.

This is part of the organisation’s effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.

“The task force shall also work closely with all Federal and State government organs and agencies tasked with the responsibility for providing direction and leadership in the fight against COVID-19, including the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 and all relevant MDAs,” a statement by the fund on Wednesday read.

“The task force will also extend support to other frontline organizations working to curtail the spread of the novel coronavirus.

“Gen. Danjuma said that the intervention had become necessary in view of the global devastation of the coronavirus pandemic and the huge human challenges it poses for the country. He added that, as a country, we must all do what we can to ensure that the spread is curtailed.
