COVID-19: Dubai ruler sends medical, food suppplies to Nigeria

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, prime minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and ruler of Dubai, has sent medical and food supplies to Nigeria.

This was announced in a tweet shared by the government of Dubai media office, on Saturday.

According to the tweet, Al Maktoum ordered the shipment of the items to assist in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

The items dispatched from the International Humanitarian City in Dubai included 14 tonnes of medical supplies and 20 tonnes of food supplies.

Al Maktoum also sent “urgent humanitarian aid” to Sudan to assist in the fight against COVID-19.

“His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum orders urgent humanitarian aid to be dispatched to Sudan to support the country’s efforts in combating the COVID-19 pandemic,” the tweet read.

“His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also ordered another aid shipment to Nigeria to help the country fight the pandemic. The relief shipments, which include 14 tonnes of medical supplies and 20 tonnes of food supplies, were dispatched from the International Humanitarian City in Dubai.”

Al Maktoum joins a list of foreigners who have contributed to the fight against the coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria.

In March, Jack Ma, co-founder of Alibaba, Chinese e-commerce company, donated medical kits to fight coronavirus pandemic.
