COVID-19: FCTA bars unvaccinated staff, visitors from offices
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has barred unvaccinated staff and visitors from its secretariat at Area 11, Garki.
An enforcement team and security men manned the entrance of the secretariat as early as 7:00 am.
Staff and visitors who could not provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 were turned back.
Some were seen at the entrance gates grumbling and begging to gain access.
Addressing journalists, Ikharo Attah, senior special assistant on monitoring, inspection and enforcement to the FCT minister, said that the enforcement will be sustained to ensure maximum compliance.
He said pictures of vaccination cards on phones and photocopies will not be accepted.
According to Attah, an enforcement team has been stationed in the FCTA’s headquarters, secretariats, and departments to ensure compliance.
“We will be asking for identity cards and we would match the cards with your COVID-19 vaccination card so that you don’t bring someone else’s card as your own.”
The FCTA on January 11 issued a circular stating that it would bar workers from accessing their offices from January 17 if they are unable to show proof of their vaccination against COVID-19.
