COVID-19: Nigeria records two deaths, 101 fresh infections

Two patients were confirmed to have died of COVID-19 complications on Saturday — bringing the country’s total casualty figure to 2,041.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), via its official Twitter handle, released the data in its update for March 27.

The agency also reported 101 fresh infections across 10 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).

The single-day count of infections has continued to decline this year — the lowest figure recorded so far was 86 cases on March 21.

The breakdown showed that Lagos recorded the highest COVID-19 cases with 32 positive samples, followed by Abia and Ebonyi, with 16 and 14 infections, respectively.

Other states with confirmed cases include the FCT (10), Bayelsa (6), Rivers (6), Bauchi(5), Jigawa (4), Oyo (3), Akwa Ibom (3) and Osun (2).

Also, 219 persons were discharged after recovering from the infection on Saturday, raising the number of recoveries to 150,205.

A total of 162,489 infections has now been confirmed since the country’s index case on February 27, 2020.
