The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 40 new positive samples of coronavirus on Saturday, raising the tally to 254,501 infections.

The latest COVID-19 cases were recorded in three states and the federal capital territory (FCT), according to the agency’s update for February 26, 2022.

Lagos state — the epicentre of the pandemic in Nigeria — recorded the highest number of new infections with 29 positive samples; followed by Delta with seven, the FCT and Rivers with two cases each.

The agency, however, said Saturday’s data contained 10 previously confirmed cases in Lagos state omitted from the cumulative report.
