The credit pass rate for candidates who participated in the National Business and Technical Examinations Board’s 2025 in-school examinations grew to 68.18 per cent.

Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, registrar of NABTEB, spoke in Abuja on Thursday.

He was announcing the release of the results for the National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examinations held between June and July 2025.

He said 92,875 candidates enrolled for the examinations across 1,892 centres nationwide, representing a 37.08 per cent increase in enrolment compared to 2024.

The registrar added that 89,621 candidates were graded, with 57,651 males representing 62.07 per cent, and 35,224 females representing 37.93 per cent.

He said 68.18 per cent of the candidates who sat for the exam scored credits and above in five subjects, including English and mathematics.

Mohammed added that the performance was an improvement on the 2024 results when 65.34 per cent scored five credits, including English and mathematics, and 92.42 per cent obtained five credits with or without the two subjects.

Mohammed said 74,633 candidates representing 83.28 per cent obtained five credits and above with or without English language and mathematics.

Mohammed said 85,476 candidates were graded in the English language for 2025, with 93.10 per cent passing and 6.90 per cent failing.

He said 85,805 candidates were graded in mathematics in 2025, with 94.60 per cent passing and 5.40 per cent failing.

The registrar noted that more candidates passed mathematics while fewer passed English compared to the 2024 results.

On examination malpractice, Mohammed said 435 candidates, representing 0.47 per cent of those who enrolled, were involved in 516 cases, compared to 349 candidates with 524 cases in 2024.

“This is a decrease in the incidence of examination malpractices as recorded in this year’s examinations,” he said.

He said the board has also commenced registration for the 2025 November/December NBC/NTC and ANBC/ANTC examinations.
