CSO announces essay competition for secondary school students

Citizens Intervention and Accountability Nigeria (CIAN) has announced its maiden essay competition for secondary school students across Nigeria.

The essay topic is ‘Education Agenda for Nigeria’s Next President.’

Candyfidel Onwuraokoye, CIAN’s director of information and strategy, said the essay is aimed at “giving young pupils the opportunity to advocate for a leadership that will represent and champion their interests, as well as one, that will lead the much-awaited charge on Nigeria’s Education Development Agenda”.

Students can enter the competition from November 1 to November 30 via an entry submission portal on CIAN’s website.

The competition is open to all secondary school students across Nigeria, from JSS 1 to SS3.

According to Onwuraokoye, six of the participants will be shortlisted to engage in a round of debate that “will spotlight and activate national interest, national interest needed to stir state actors and the policy community for an immediate plan of action”.

The first place winner will be awarded N1 million, while the second and third place winners will get N700,000 and N500,000, respectively.
