Adewale Adeniyi, the comptroller-general (CG) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), says Nigeria is making progress with consultations on the reopening of the borders with Niger Republic and Benin Republic.

Adeniyi spoke with the State House correspondents in Abuja on Tuesday after the inauguration of the national single window (NSW) project.

Earlier, President Bola Tinubu inaugurated the NSW project to boost trade in Nigeria.

NSW is an electronic portal linking all agencies and players in import and export processes to an integrated platform.

In March, NCS asked residents and stakeholders of the Illela border community in Sokoto to abide by regulations ahead of the reopening of the border with Niger Republic.

Kamal Muhammad, the NCS comptroller in charge of the Sokoto/Zamfara area command, visited the Illela border station.

Muhammad had said the decision of  the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to lift the sanctions on Niger Republic might translate to the reopening of the nation’s borders
