Daisy Danjuma, former senator representing Edo south; Lilian Salami, immediate past vice-chancellor of the University of Benin; and Lami Tumaka, chairperson of Blue Economy Nigeria Ltd, have endorsed Dakuku Peterside’s new book on crisis leadership.
The trio described ‘Leading in a Storm’ as a timely guide for leaders seeking to navigate disruption and uncertainty.
Danjuma, who is also the executive chair of South Atlantic Petroleum, said the book offers practical lessons for both public and private sector leaders.
She noted that any leader serious about thriving in today’s uncertain world would find the book indispensable.

“Dakuku Peterside emphasises key tools such as understanding context, maintaining composure, making sense of complexity, proactive decision-making, effective communication, adaptability, teamwork, and continuous learning,” she said.
“These insights — which I find useful and practical — make Leading in a Storm essential reading for leaders at every level.”
Salami, a former chairman of the committee of vice-chancellors of Nigerian universities, said the book is “urgent given the volatility across the world”.

She added that Peterside’s thesis that crisis has become the new normal demands a shift from reactive crisis management to proactive, and transformative leadership anchored on contextual intelligence.
“With the world experiencing turmoil in all aspects of existence, leaders must be adequately equipped to navigate uncertainties,” she said.
Tumaka, a former spokesperson of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), said her endorsement was shaped by firsthand experience of Peterside’s leadership.
She added that the book goes beyond theory to provide actionable insights that can guide leaders across business, government and civil society.

“Leading in a Storm is a masterclass in crisis leadership, offering practical strategies for navigating turbulent times,” Tumaka said.
“Peterside’s emphasis on adaptability, resilience and decisive action is a timely reminder that effective leadership is crucial in times of uncertainty. His nuanced exploration of leadership challenges is both insightful and actionable.”
Peterside, a former lawmaker and one-time director-general of NIMASA, said the book builds on his earlier work titled ‘Strategic Turnaround: The Story of a Government Agency’.
He described ‘Leading in a Storm’ as a “field-tested playbook” that equips leaders to read context, communicate with clarity, make tough calls under pressure and mobilise teams to adapt.
