Minister of Sports, Tamuno Danagogo, has called on football administrators not to tamper with the nation’s number one sport, urging them to put their house in order in the interest of the nation.
Danagogo, who was represented by Dr. Bolaji Ojooba, made this call at the Nigeria Football Federation’s Extra-Ordinary General Assembly held in Warri, Delta state.
Danagogo urged the stakeholders to put their house in order in the interest of the nation and observed that football is a major component of national unity.
“Football is the only symbol of Nigeria’s unity and it would be criminal for anybody to tamper with it. It is a major component that every Nigerian identifies with. It is like religion; it is a product all of us cherish and we have to protect it,” he said.
“If smaller countries like Togo, Republic of Benin and others can get it right, I see no reason why Nigeria cannot get it correctly.”
In attendance was NFF president, Aminu Maigari; Mike Umeh; Christopher Green; Shehu Adamu; Yusuf Ahmed.
Others were NFF director of technical, Emmanuel Ikpeme; NFF director of marketing, Adama Idris; and delegates from all the state football associations.
