Dangote Cement bags two nominations at Pearl Awards

Dangote Cement Company Plc has been nominated in two categories in The Pearl Awards scheduled to hold at Eko Hotels on Victoria Island on November 24.

Tayo Orekoya, president/CEO of Pearl Awards Nigeria, who spoke while unveiling the nominees, said Dangote Cement got the nominations in the industrial goods (building materials) and corporate governance (special recognition) categories.

Orekoya said sectoral leadership awards, market excellence awards and overall highest awards would highlight the 2019 event which has the theme “Celebrating sustainable leadership and resilience”.

“The business environment in Nigeria, as with the global space, has been harsh and we believe that businesses that have remained afloat in spite of these daunting challenges deserve to be honoured,” he said.

“In line with our policy, the nominees as well as winner of the Overall Highest Award (The Pearl) and Honorary Awards for this year will be announced at the Awards Nite.

“I also wish to say that the 2019 event has been packaged to celebrate of outstanding quoted and market player companies in Nigeria, while top Capital Market players, industry chieftains as well as top government functionaries have been confirmed to grace the PEARL Awards Nite.”

A breakdown of the awards categories showed that sectoral leadership cadre has 17 categories while market excellence awards and overall highest awards have nine and three respectively.

Among other companies that got nominated for the various awards include Okomu Oil Palm Plc, Access Bank, John Holt, Unilever, Total Nigeria Plc and Afromedia Plc.
