Dangote Refinery has received the second phase of its crude feedstock, with the latest coming from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

Confirming the delivery, a source at Dangote Refinery told TheCable the refiner received 952,668 barrels of crude oil through Bonny Shell terminal on Wednesday.

The vessel named MT OTIS was said to sail from Bonny Shell terminal to Dangote Refinery’s single point mooring (SPM).

“This is NNPC cargo that loaded from Shell terminal,” the source said.

“Three more cargoes carrying a minimum 3 million bbl in total are being expected before 30th December 2023.”

The new arrival represents the second cargo of about six million barrels expected by Dangote Refinery.

Two weeks ago, the refinery received its maiden one million barrels of Agbami crude grade, from the Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited (STASCO).

“This supply will facilitate the initial run of the refinery as well as kick-start the production of diesel, aviation fuel, and LPG before subsequently progressing to the production of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS),” the oil refining company had said.

Aliko Dangote, chairman of Dangote Group, had said the plant would start production with 350,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude.
