VALUE JET VS KWAM 1

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) says the travel ban placed on Wasiu Ayinde, popular Fuji musician known as KWAM 1, will remain in place indefinitely until ongoing investigations into the flight incident are concluded.

On August 5, the NCAA suspended two ValueJet pilots over a safety breach at the Nandi Azikiwe International Airport domestic terminal, Abuja.

According to reports, the security breach was a result of the unruly conduct of the musician who had attempted to block the aircraft from taking off.

The authority had said the singer had attempted to board the aircraft with an unidentified liquid substance despite repeated warnings from aviation security (AVSEC) personnel and the flight captain.

The authorities said the substance was later found to be alcohol after the artist spilt it on a security officer who was trying verify the content of a flask KWAM 1 was drinking from.

Although the musician had argued that the substance was “plain drinking water” given to him at the airport lounge, Festus Keyamo, the minister of aviation and aerospace development, directed the NCAA to place him on a no-fly list for six months, pending the outcome of a full investigation.
