Aisha Wakil, better known as Mama Boko Haram, says she played a key role in the release of the kidnapped Dapchi schoolgirls.

In an interview with Channels Television, Wakil said she persuaded the Boko Haram insurgents to return the girls home safely.

She said: “I mounted pressure, I keep on begging them. I really pleaded.

“They promised me they were gonna release them that I shouldn’t bother myself, I shouldn’t cry, so I was very happy [when they did]. I thank God.”
