Dare Awoniyi, Nigerian ambassador, presents letters of credence to Maduro
Dare Awoniyi, Nigeria’s ambassador to the Republic of Venezuela, has presented his letters of credence to Nicolás Maduro, the country’s president.
The ceremony was held at the Palacio de Miraflores, the presidential villa, in Caracas, the country’s capital.
Awoniyi is one of the 41 non-career ambassadors appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in July 2020.
Venezuela established diplomatic relations with Nigeria in 1965.
Both countries are members of Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
In February 2018, Martin Cobham, Nigeria’s former ambassador to the Republic of Venezuela, had presented his letters of credence to Maduro.
At the time, Maduro called for stronger bilateral ties between Venezuela and Nigeria.
Maduro also called for the opening of new vistas in areas of mutual benefits for the development of the two countries.
