Sunday Dare, minister of youth and sports development, has charged Anthony Joshua, Kamaru Usman, and the Falconets not to allow their recent losses to dampen their spirits.

The trio suffered defeats in their latest outings over the weekend.

Joshua and Usman lost world title bouts in boxing and mixed martial arts respectively while the Falconets crashed out of the FIFA U-20 Women World Cup at the quarter-final stage.

The defeats had elicited a plethora of reactions on social media, with many Nigerians sharing their views.

In a statement on Monday, Dare said despite the losses, the trio should be proud of having given their best in gallant performances.

He said Nigeria is proud of them, adding that they remain heroes and heroines.

The minister also said the country is strongly behind them and believes in their abilities to bounce back stronger and better from their recent defeats.

“Nigeria is proud of you all and you remain national heroes and heroines, as the nation believes you will bounce back stronger and better,” he said.

Dare further urged Nigerians to support them so as to quicken their recovery process from the defeats ahead of future challenges.
