Barring any unforeseen development, Sambo Dasuki, former national security adviser (NSA), will testify in the trial of Olisa Metuh, ex-spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Tuesday.

A source disclosed this to TheCable on Monday.

Since his trial began in 2015, Dasuki has not given any testimony in court.

“Dasuki will be in court tomorrow. Our lawyers have confirmed that,” he said.

“He is expected to be at the court at 9am, but the case may not start until 1pm, which is the time the judge fixed.”

Metuh is facing trial before Okon Abang, justice of the federal high court, Abuja, for alleged money laundering.

In January 2016, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed the charges against Metuh for allegedly receiving N400m from Dasuki illegally.

The anti-graft agency said the money was a part of the $2.1bn arms fund Dasuki allegedly misappropriated.

But Metuh denied the allegation, insisting that the money was approved by former President Goodluck Jonathan for an “image-building” campaign.

He also said that he was not aware that money was a part of the arms fund. He also asked the court to summon Dasuki, but his request was rejected.

Abang, the judge, had rejected Metuh’s no-case submission, ordering him to open his case.

The former PDP has opened his defence, and Dasuki is expected to be his next witness.

Dasuki is also facing money laundering charges before an Abuja high court.
