The Daystar Christian Centre, Lagos, says over 770 young entrepreneurs benefitted from its skill acquisition programme in the first quarter of the year.

The church said the basic skills and personal development training were for self-reliance and financial independence.

It listed the areas people were trained on as photography, make-up artistry, catering, fruits art, pastries and small chop, bread making, event décor, web design, graphic design, footwear, cake making, among others.

In his speech at the graduation ceremony of the beneficiaries, Paul Nwolisa, registrar of Daystar Special Skill Acquisition Programme (DSAP), said the training which holds every quarter serves as a means of empowering indigent Nigerians for financial independence.

“Our focus as a church is making positive impacts and raising role models in the society,” Nwolisa said.

“We hold the training three times a year; February, June and October. DSAP is an idea from God to give hope to the hopeless, succour to the discouraged and lifting people out of poverty.”

According to Nwolisa, almost 1000 people were admitted for the free training but 770 applicants graduated after two weeks of intensive and practical training.

He urged the young entrepreneurs to follow up on their training with their various faculties, saying two weeks may not be enough to laud success.
