Better known as D’banj, popular Nigerian musician, Dapo Oyebanjo, on Friday encouraged Nigerians to embrace agriculture.
In a tweet, the 35-year-old artiste posted a picture of the Naira and exchange rate with a caption that read “This is an #Emergency Do agric it PAYS”
The Bank of Industry ambassador is known for his recent involvement in Agriculture as shown in his 2014 video, Cocoa na Chocolate, which was in support of agricultural investments.
Oyebanjo, who began his career in 2004 told Vanguard in an interview in 2014, that agriculture is the only way out of poverty for Nigeria and Africa.
He launched his brand of cassava by-product in March 2014, calling it Koko Garri.
D’banj is an ambassador for the Nigerian Agricultural Entrepreneur initiative, also known as Nagroprenuers, which was set up by the Akinwunmi Adesina, former minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Born in Zaria, Kaduna state, Oyebanjo took to playing the harmonica at a young age and worked as a security guard before he met Don Jazzy, Mavin CEO.
The duo returned to Nigeria in 2004 to release D’banj’s first track, Tongolo, which turned out to be a hit, and start Mo’ Hits record.
Mo’Hits had artistes like Wande Coal, Dr Sid, Kayswitch and D’Prince before it broke up in 2011.
