Quite a number of Nigerians have taken to social media platforms to register their different reactions to the Air Peace flight incident which occurred on Saturday.

An Abuja-Port Harcourt bound aircraft had veered off the runway surface of the Port Harcourt international airport on landing and slid into the bush.

While there was no loss of life to the 94 passengers and six crew members, a video clip of the incident, where one of the passengers was overheard praying, has become the talking point on social media.

In the now-viral footage, which was shared by one ThankGod Okorisha, a woman can be heard calling on the “God of Bishop Oyedepo”, while speaking in tongues (glossolalia) — a religious phenomenon in which people speak in languages unknown to them.

This has generated reactions on social media platforms, particularly on Twitter, where users flooded in to register their various opinions on the subject.

While a segment of users lauded the “prayer warrior” for calling on the God of the cleric “she so believe in”, in time of distress, others wondered why Oyedepo’s name must be mentioned.

“Did I just hear “the God of Bishop Oyedepo??,” a user asked.

“I don’t have an issue with anyone praying in times like this. However, which one is “the God of Bishop Oyedepo”. Is he not the same God you’re serving? Matthew 6:7-8,” said another user.
