The National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria (NARD) says only members whose salaries were paid in full were exempted from its nationwide strike.

Mohammad Askira, president of NARD, said this in a statement issued in Kano on Thursday.

“The association wishes to state that, only members whose salaries are paid in full (with100% skipping) are exempted from starting the strike on June 9, following the intervention of the speaker of the House of representatives,” the statement read.

“While those who are getting fractions or no salaries will continue the strike action as planned. This is the true position of the meeting between the national president and other members of the leadership and the speaker of the house of representatives held on Wednesday, June 8.

“All members should await and regard further communication only from the NARD leadership.”

The statement said another meeting with lawmakers has been scheduled for Tuesday.
