Douye Diri, governor of Bayelsa, has suspended Wilcox Job, the paramount ruler of the Swali community in Yenagoa LGA of the state.
In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai and Thompson Amule— commissioners for information, orientation and strategy, and chieftaincy affairs, respectively— announced the suspension and said it took effect immediately.
The commissioners said the sons of the traditional are allegedly involved in cultism.
“This is due to the traditional ruler’s inability to show leadership expected of his position in the fight against crime and cultism amidst credible intelligence that two of his sons are involved in cult activities in the community,” the statement reads.
