The ministry of finance says a director in a viral video accused of misconduct is not a staff member of the ministry.
In a video seen on X, some people were heard chanting “Bala must go” at an individual, while voices in the background shouted “ole”.
In a statement on Tuesday, Mohammed Manga, director of information and public relations at the ministry, said the claims are “unfounded and baseless,” adding that the said director is not a staff member at the ministry.
“The attention of the Federal Ministry of Finance has been drawn to a video clip circulating on social media platforms alleging misconduct related to a director’s refusal to vacate office space upon retirement,” Manga said.

“We state categorically that these allegations are completely unfounded, baseless, and unrelated to the federal ministry of finance.
“The federal ministry of finance wishes to clarify that the director allegedly involved in the retirement dispute is not a staff member of our ministry.
“We unequivocally dissociate ourselves from any issues or circumstances surrounding the retirement of the said director, who serves in a different ministry.”

The spokesperson said the ministry upholds professionalism, decorum, and mutual respect among colleagues, especially during retirement transitions.
Manga also urged members of the public to verify information through official channels and disregard “speculation or misinformation” regarding the matter.
