Segun Adewale, factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos state, has denied the report that the party called for a general assembly.

Adewale said this in reaction to a report that a general assembly would hold at Sogunle, Ikeja, by 10am on Tuesday.

The chairman, who described the meeting as “illegal”, advised members of the PDP in the state to disregard the notice.

He also said that the leadership of the party did not authorise anyone or group to do same on its behalf.

“I wish to inform all peace loving members of the PDP and the general public in Lagos state that we did not call any such meeting, neither did we authorise anyone to do same on our behalf,” the statement by Adewale read.

“Consequently, I wish to advise all members of our party to disregard any notice calling for such meeting by unauthorised persons or bodies.”

Adewale said the executive of the party had met with the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and no such meeting was agreed on.

He said such gathering could endanger the peace Lagos currently enjoys.

“I wish to advice members to be wary of mischief makers and sponsored agents that are bent on causing confusion among us for some selfish reasons,” he said.
