The Department of State Services (DSS) is currently receiving backlash on social media for saying no one showed up to pick Omoyele Sowore, convener of the Revolution Now movement, after his bail conditions were met.

The secret police have been under pressure over the continued detention of the activist despite the ruling of the court.

But in a statement on Friday, theye said Sowore is still in custody because no one visited the agency to delivery of him.

Shortly after the DSS statement was issued, Inibehe Effiong, one of Sowore’s lawyers, took to Twitter to deny the statement.

He said he visited the DSS office on Thursday but they simply refused to release Sowore.

“The statement by the DSS is false and contemptuous. The court did not direct the DSS to release Sowore to someone. The Order says he should be released, period! I was at DSS facility in Abuja yesterday where I met with DSS lawyers, Sowore and Bakare. They refused to release them,” he tweeted.

Below are reactions on Twitter and Facebook.
