DStv, MultiChoice’s digital satellite TV in Africa, has announced that decoders will now sell for lower rates.
Martin Mabutho, general manager, marketing and sales, MultiChoice Nigeria, made this announcement at a press conference that held in Lagos on Tuesday.
“In this era when 145 is all you are hearing and less traffic is what you are seeing. I think it’s only appropriate that a company that is entrenched in Nigeria like DSTV be seen to continue in that tradition during this hard time,” he said.
“DSTV Standard Definition (SD) with dish used to cost 20,000 but we cut it back to 12, 500 naira in February.
“Now, because of this 145 and pleas from customers who would like to move to the high definition, we decided that with effect from Friday, a full set of HD zapper decoder with a dish and one-month compact subscription will go for 9,900 naira.
“That is our Euro special it is the lowest that we have been in close to 15 years.
“It is a limited time offer that would last for Euro. We believe that it is our own small way of meeting ourselves as we face this 145.
“Those that are using the compact bouquet will also be able to watch the Euro 2016 live. It is only fair to say that we could only stretch it as low as the compact bouquet.
“GoTv subscribers will be able to enjoy other sporting events and catch highlights on SuperSport channel.”
Felix Awogu, general manger of SuperSport, reiterated the plans of the satelite TV stating that seven channels would be dedicated to the 2016 Euro matches and the Olympics in Rio, Brazil.
