A couple of days after becoming the first African side to defeat the US men’s national team, Nigeria outplayed Argentina, the fourth-ranked team in the world, with another exciting display at the Olympic tune-up tourney in Las Vegas on Monday.

The South Americans led the first quarter 19-17 as both teams battle each other with brute force rather than technicality.

D’Tigers then settled into the game, exerted their brilliance, and wrestled control from the Argentines, grabbing a 10-gap lead of 43-33 before halftime.

Miye Oni’s shot at the buzzer stretched D’Tigers’ dominance in the third quarter as it finished 74-55.

The team wrapped up the incredible performance, where they displayed composure and unmatched hunger, in the fourth quarter to finish the game with a confident-inspiring 23-point margin against another top 5 teams in the world.

Jahil Okafor, who missed out on the team’s win over the United States on Sunday, led the Nigerian side with 15 points and seven rebounds.

D’Tigers are billed to face Australia on Wednesday before departing for Tokyo on July 17.

The brilliant form of the Nigerians certainly means Mike Brown has some big decisions to make ahead of his final 12-man list selection for the Tokyo Olympics.

Nigeria is in group B alongside Australia, Italy and Germany.

The Olympics will take place from July 23 to August 8, and the basketball event will begin on the third day.
