D’Tigers qualify for FIBA World Cup — first time since 2006

The D’Tigers defeated Central African Republic 114-69 on Saturday to qualify for the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China.

Alex Nwora’s team was unbeaten 8-0 in the qualifying series en route sealing a place in the World Cup.

The victory over CAR is the team’s 11th consecutive win.

D’Tigers dominated play from start to finish winning all four quarters; 25-20, 26-19, 37-21 and 26-9.

The Nigerian squad is the first African team to qualify for the World Cup.

D’Tigers will return to the World Cup for the first time since 2006, having missed out of the 2010 and 2014 editions.

The team will face Senegal in their final qualifying game on Sunday.
