D’Tigress defeat Turkey to record first ever World Cup win

D’Tigress have won their first ever game at a FIBA Women’s World Cup.

Nigeria’s women basketball team defeated Turkey 74-68 in the Group B encounter in Tenerife, Spain, on Sunday.

The team trailed the Turks 15-7 in the first quarter but bounced back to win the second quarter 22-17.

D’Tigress extended their lead from five in the second quarter to 13, winning 23-10 before losing the fourth quarter 22-26.

Otis Hurley’s team had lost 89-51 to Turkey in a warm-up game en route the tournament.

The team lost their first game of the FIBA Women’s World Cup to Australia.

The D’Tigress will face Argentina in their next game on Tuesday.
